In April 2020, my mom and I started sewing masks when the pandemic shut down our family business. Our family sewed and donated bulks of filtered cloth masks to families and workers.
Eventually, we began to sell them, making thousands of masks in just a couple of months. We raised over $2500 and used 100% of the profit to purchase surgical masks, which were donated to local hospitals and first responder workers. When the pandemic ended, my mom was honored with a Fremont community hero award.
